Bursa – Uludağ Day Trip – Cable Car, Green Mosque & Lunch

Loading available options...

Overview

  • Duration:12 hours 0 minutes
  • Tour Type:Daily Tour, Regular Tour
  • Language:Arabic, English
This is the day you swap Istanbul’s traffic for mountains, forests and fresh air. In the morning you’re collected from your hotel and driven to the pier, where the coach rolls onto a ferry. As you sail across the Sea of Marmara, the city slowly disappears behind you and is replaced by open water, gulls and the outline of green hills ahead.

Once you reach the Asian side, the road climbs through the countryside toward Bursa, surrounded by orchards and villages. Your guide tells the story of how this “Green City” became the first capital of the Ottoman Empire, famous today for its mosques, silk and chestnut desserts. There’s usually a short stop at a Turkish delight or jam factory, where the sweet smell of sugar and fruit fills the air and you can taste a few samples.

Up in the Uludağ Mountain area, the air turns cooler and the scenery changes to pine forests and, in winter, snow. You ride the cable car or drive up to panoramic viewpoints where locals drink hot salep and children play in the snow or rent sledges. In summer, the same slopes become picnic spots and barbecue smoke drifts through the trees. A Turkish lunch is served at a local restaurant, often featuring grills and salads, with time for photos and optional extra activities.

On the way back down toward Bursa city, you visit a huge, centuries-old plane tree and then move into the historic centre. Here you step inside the elegant Green Mosque and Green Tomb, decorated with turquoise tiles, and walk through the Silk Market, where traders still sell fabrics and scarves as they have for generations. In the evening, you return to Istanbul the way you came – ferry, road and finally hotel drop-off – tired but with the feeling that you’ve seen a completely different side of Turkey.

Itinerary

Hotel Pickup

Time: 07:00 – 08:30
Location: Your hotel lobby (central European Side)

A shared coach collects guests from hotels and meeting points around Taksim, Şişli, Beyoğlu and Sultanahmet. Once everyone is on board, you leave the city and head toward the port or highway, depending on the day’s route. Your guide uses the drive to explain the plan for the day and share some background about Bursa and Uludağ.

Stop 1: Ferry Crossing over the Sea of Marmara

Time: 09:00 – 10:30 (approx.)
Location: Istanbul pier → Yalova / Mudanya

The coach boards a ferry and you enjoy a relaxed crossing of the Sea of Marmara. You can sit inside with tea and simit, or go up to the open deck to feel the breeze and watch the Istanbul skyline slowly fade behind you. It’s a good moment for photos and a quiet start to the day.

Stop 2: Sweet Factory & Countryside Drive

Time: 10:30 – 11:30
Location: Near Yalova / on the road to Bursa

Back on land, you drive through the countryside toward Bursa. On the way there is usually a short stop at a Turkish delight, jam or honey factory. You see how local products are made, taste a few samples and, if you like, buy some sweets to bring home. Then the bus continues climbing toward the mountain.

Stop 3: Uludağ Mountain & Lunch

Time: 12:00 – 14:30
Location: Uludağ Mountain area

You reach the Uludağ Mountain region, one of Turkey’s most popular ski and nature areas. Depending on traffic and weather, you either ride the cable car or drive up by coach to a mountain plateau with cafes, equipment rental shops and viewpoints. ( Cable Car is optional, Per person 10 USD)

Here you:

  • enjoy a Turkish lunch at a local restaurant (set menu, often grill with salad),
  • have free time to take photos and enjoy the views,
  • in winter, you can rent sledges or try simple snow activities (extra cost),
  • in summer, you can walk in the forest or relax with tea at a mountain café.

Stop 4: Historical Plane Tree & Bursa City Sights

Time: 14:30 – 16:00
Location: Inkaya Plane Tree → Bursa city centre

On the way back down toward Bursa, you stop by a famous 600-year-old plane tree with a huge trunk and wide branches. It’s a favourite place for photos and a quick tea break. Then you continue into the city centre to discover Bursa’s historic side.

Stop 6: Return to Istanbul

Time: 18:00 – 22:30 (approx.)
Location: Bursa → Istanbul → Your hotel

As evening approaches, you board the coach again and begin the journey back to Istanbul, usually with another ferry crossing. Depending on traffic and season, you arrive back in the city later in the evening.

Frequently asked questions

Is this tour suitable in both summer and winter?

Yes. In winter, Uludağ is a lively ski and snow area, with snow activities and cold temperatures, so warm clothing, gloves and boots are essential. In spring, summer and autumn, the mountain is green and cooler than Istanbul, perfect for fresh air, short walks and views. The programme is similar, but the activities change with the season.

What should I bring with me?

Comfortable walking shoes are essential. In colder months, bring a warm jacket, hat, gloves and an extra layer for Uludağ. In summer, a light jacket for the mountain, sunscreen and sunglasses are useful. A small amount of cash is handy for drinks, snacks, optional activities and shopping in the Silk Market.

Do you pick up from the Asian side?

No, just European side and city center, we collect all clients.
