Ankara

While Istanbul is the soul of Turkey, Ankara is its beating heart and brain. As the modern capital, it is a planned, orderly city that tells the story of how the Turkish Republic was forged. The skyline is dominated by Anıtkabir, the colossal and solemn mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, a site of pilgrimage for every Turk. But Ankara isn't just about modern politics; it houses the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, arguably the best museum in the country, holding treasures from the Hittites and Phrygians that date back to the dawn of civilization. It is an essential stop to understand the deep roots of this land.

FAQ’s about Ankara

Have more questions? Contact us.

Do I need a visa for Turkey?
Most travelers (including US, UK, and EU citizens) no longer need a visa for stays up to 90 days. However, regulations change, so we always recommend checking the official e-Visa website or your local embassy before flying.
Is it safe for female travelers?
Absolutely. Turkey is one of the most visited countries in the world. Our tours use private, professional drivers and certified guides to ensure you are safe, comfortable, and well-cared for 24/7.
Can I use credit cards or do I need cash?
Visa and Mastercard are accepted in almost all hotels, restaurants, and shops. However, we recommend carrying small amounts of Turkish Lira (TRY) for taxis, small souvenirs, or tipping.
What is the dress code?
Turkey is a modern country, and you can wear normal western clothing (shorts, t-shirts) in all cities. The only exception is when visiting active mosques, where women need to cover their hair and shoulders, and men should wear long pants.
Is the water safe to drink?
We recommend drinking bottled water, which is cheap and readily available everywhere. The tap water is chlorinated and safe for showering and brushing teeth, but the taste might be different from what you are used to.
Do your guides speak English?
Yes, all our guides are fully licensed by the Ministry of Tourism and speak fluent English. We can also arrange Spanish, Portuguese, or French-speaking guides upon request for private tours.
